22 participants from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have just embarked on a ‘New and Junior Leadership programme’. This new innovative course is designed to equip those new to leadership with the confidence, skills and knowledge to enable them to lead effectively in an ever changing workplace.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recently welcomed Prime Minister David Cameron on the day the Prime Minister announced a package of measures to improve standards of care in hospitals.
One of the measures announced was about leadership on wards. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has over the last year been investing in the role of the Ward Manager. The Trust commissioned a development programme to empower their Ward Managers in the changing NHS landscape.

At the December 2011 degree ceremony, Chancellor Sir Chris Bonington presented student Lesley Crichton with the Princess Alexandra Medal. Lesley, the Professional Head of Occupational Therapy (Mental Health) with Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, completed the MA in Developing Professional Practice in Management and was awarded the medal in recognition of her exceptional performance in her studies.
