Train the Trainer
Increasingly, managers and supervisors have a responsibility for the training and development of groups of staff. This course will provide the essential skills needed to design, plan and deliver a group training session.
Who is it for?
Anyone involved in training and developing groups of staff. This course is an introductory course, allowing individuals to progress further, for example to the Certificate in Learning and Development if they wish to study the subject in greater depth.Course Details
The course consists of two interactive workshops. In addition there is guided self study and work based learning for which there is distance support offered via our virtual learning environment. It will sharpen your presentation skills and improve your confidence. It will discuss the different ‘tried and tested’ evaluation methods available, so that you can improve your sessions for future groups.
Topics covered will include:
- Identifying learners’ needs
- Design and planning a group training session
- Delivering a group training session
- Evaluating learning
Qualifications
This course carries 10 level 6 Higher Education credits. Successfully completing two courses at level 6 leads to a Lancaster University Certificate of Achievement in Professional Development. Successfully completing two level 6 courses and four level 7 courses will mean you have gained 60 credits which leads to a Lancaster University Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Development. Please note to gain a Postgraduate Certificate then at least four of the courses you complete must be at level 7 i.e. you need at least 40 credits at level 7.Assessment
Assessments are based on applying your learning to work based activities so they are highly relevant and useful, and there are no exams!Entry requirements
